Andrew Brenton BA (Hons) LL.M.

Principal
Andrew spent the first part of his career working in information technology specifically as a high-level project management consultant in the banking and finance sector. As part of this remit I drafted and appraised service and delivery contracts incorporating the complex governance and compliance aspects of the financial sector into project delivery. It was at this point he discovered a keen interest in the nuances and technical intricacies of corporate law.

In 2015 he graduated with a first-class honour’s degree in photojournalism from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David after taking a career break to explore new challenges. In 2016 he started his own legislative compliance business specialising in the new data protection regulations that were due to come into force in 2018. Later he specialised in the handling of contentious subject access requests and dealing with ICO complaints for both individuals and companies. His previous experience of corporate law and its practical application in the field was invaluable.

2019 saw him being awarded an LL.M. with distinction after studying the Master of Laws course at the University of South Wales at the same time as building his legal compliance business. The course comprised a broad range of commercially orientated topics including corporate law and governance, tort, contract, supply chain liabilities, commercial and consumer law, and European and international legal frameworks. His thesis dealt with themes around privacy and human rights. Happily, the demands of study and career dovetailed to benefit both endeavours and led to success in both.

Since graduating with a master’s in law he has professionally qualified as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is an Associate member of the Royal Photographic Society.

He set up IOLIS Legal Services in 2019 to offer specialist data protection services, sports governance, corporate governance, and dispute resolution including arbitration. IOLIS also provides advice on Covid-19 regulatory compliance in Wales and on the phased return to sporting activities from a legal perspective.
